Date Set for State of Union Address

The government shutdown in the US has caused quite a bit of ruckus. And the State of Union speech is one of the items thrown out of whack by the Democrats’ unwillingness to cooperate with the Republicans.

Nancy Pelosi, the US House Speaker, has delivered a new invitation to US President Donald Trump to give his State of Union address on 5 February.

Trump to give speech after deal reached

The formal letter outlines that Trump will reschedule the speech, which was set back due to the partial government shutdown, AP reports.

The president and Congress came to a deal on Friday to reopen the government. This was a condition given by Pelosi to allow Trump to speak.
